LR just called, and gave me a quote to supply and coding, BUT the car has to go to the dealership. How can a locked car be transported anyway, let alone the cost.
I asked for a key cut code and the EKA code. They told me that I still wouldn't be able to start the car only open it. (now waiting on another call)
I am getting quite frustrated and I don't know if they know what they are talking about.

Absolute rubbish! The car CAN be unlocked, un immobilised, started and driven if you have a correctly cut key blade ( no fob) and know the EKA.
If you have the correct key cut code from LR, the EKA, and a locksmith there is no need to tow the car anywhere.
It's all in the user manual which they obviously havnt read.
The whole idea of the EKA is to enable the car to be started in the case of a remote control failure/loss.Quote:

It takes just a few seconds for the dealer to obtain the codes from the LR Viking system. Make sure you're talking to the Service Dept for the codes - Parts don't have access to them.Quote:

While you're waiting, read up on how to enter the EKA code. You don't want to stuff it up as you're entering it.
They just called me back. They are going to look for the codes tomorrow. But did tell me that there is no guarentee the EKA code will work. Plus not advisable to do it if not trained. grrrr now I am really stressed.
Where do I find how to enter the code? I read somewhere that it is to be done from the door lock and code is the number of times you turn on way, the next code the other way.
Also they got a quote on transport $1800 with a locked vehicle. Then there is also no guarentee that they can even cut a key and recode to even work for $580 Not that I can afford this.

They are scaring you! The procedure is designed so that any non trained person can start and drive the car should your fob be damaged.

As long as the code has not been changed and the key blank has been cut correctly you will be able to start and drive your car.
I have done this several times to test, as I keep a spare key in my wallet !
Landrover designed the procedure to get you going in this exact scenario and it works. Don't worry!
The EKA procedure is in your handbook.
If you don't have that, go to Land Rover Topix:

and click on the 'browse' section.
From there you can select your car then 'documents', then 'owners information', then 'owners handbook'.
Select 'English RHD' & you'll find the EKA details in 'controls & instruments', page 18 in the book I looked up.
If the local locksmith can't cut a key by code, do you know someone in a big city who could get one cut & post it to you?

PS. The procedure says there is a 5 minute delay before you can start the car after entering the EKA sequence.
On the 2003 model this is NOT the case - you can go straight ahead and unlock and start and drive away after following the EKA entry - not sure about the pre 2003 models.

Just wondering, IF I manage to get this unlocked and started to drive. How do I relock the car again and later unlock it to drive again? Like can I lock it with the key? Then to unlock and start the car again, go through the EKA system again?
