It is nice to get out of jail so easy isn't it!
after noticing what appeared to suspension fatigue, and noises, toward the end of my trip a few weeks ago, when I got home I put Grumble up on the stands and searched for blatant signs...ran the spanners over everything and to no good result.
I was going to give it to one of the LR specialists to look at but yesterday jumped up on the rh side step to clean the windscreen and felt the sag and heard a clunk.
So I got under the front and pulled and pushed the suspension noticing movement around the lower end of the 'shocker' (I hate using shocker, as its a damper) , so put the spanners on everything under there but all tight.
So I lifted the bonnet and jumped on the bull bar,,,, sure enough , knocking noises from the suspension tower.
Couldn't see what it was so removed the cooling tank and guess what?
No bolt holding the damper to the tower. There it was, plain as dogs balls and I hadn't found it for a couple of weeks.
So I guess the bolt is sitting on the Birdsville Track waiting to punch into someones tyre.
Once found easily fixed and the suspension seems perfect again. I'm happy, Grumble's happy again.
It's easy to miss the obvious.
Prior to the trip I had run the spanners over everything, except the top of the front suspension towers.
Just pays to be a bit more diligent, doesn't it?

It's pretty common for the front shock lower bushes to die also.
Regards Philip A
Also use Polyurethane bushes instead of rubber and they will last forever. My front lowers have over 200,000km on them with a 4" lift and are still good.
Cheers
