nope, 8mm.;):p
had to get Enzed to make one:o
Todays plan was to check the oil pressure relief valve and physical oil pressure.
The oil pressure relief valve was a bitch to get out,, but eventually it popped out and the spring measured (63mm, min60), piston checked and found to be perfect, all oiled and replaced.
Oil pressure gauge attached.
first 5 sec crank, no movement.
2nd 5 sec crank finally sees movement but very erratic, up to 50 back to 15. settles to steady 50lb at 1000revs. next start no pressure.
next start 50lb, every start after that, 50lb.
That also confirmed the oil pressure switch/light is correct.
at that stage, after MUCH coersion a change in oil back to HPR10 was done.
Oil light goes out before battery light. repeatably:cool:.
real proof will only be found in the morning.
doesnt explain why it ran the previous 10K on HPR15 without a murmur.
Wow.
At the end of the day the bearings aren't dry at start up, they have that hydrodynamic wedge of oil supporting the crank as the journal turns and the lifters et al are ok for a little while but it is disconcerting.
I know of a Tdi that didn't have oil pressure for near a minute at start up after some work and the big ends looked fine 90,000km later, or at least the lower halves did, the uppers (and little ends) were shot from too high combustion pressures.
still not right I think,,
cold (well,, 17degs) start and still 2-3 secs after battery light.
only difference is thinner oil,,,,
next step can only be removal of sump to check oil pickup and if that is good then its off with the oil pump cover.
did I mention the shudder?
I originally dismissed it as Auto related, but its still there after the auto service...
goes away after 100 yards or so.
only really noticed it since we've been back on the coast, but its not as severe and doesnt last as long on the thinner oil.
Pedro.
You've had the big silver lemon long enough.
Get a big silver bottle of tequila and a big silver shaker of salt.
Then get a TDV8 or the 5L petrol (maybe even some forced induction ;) ) and join club Perma-latte-grin :P
Seriously though, I hope you get it sorted.
