Siren went off in the middle of the night

    Hi all,

The other night siren went off in the middle of the night, 4 am.

    99 DIsco 2. v8.

    Not the alarm, but siren.

Even when I got in the car and started it, it wouldn't stop.

I took of the terminals off to shut it down.

I was reading posts for few days assuming that it could be a BBUS , siren back up batteries going low.

One land rover dealership would say to me it has BBUS and the other would say it doesn't, they had no idea.

I and my auto elec friend looked in the back and couldn't find one.

All it this was, the car battery was old!

It was good enough to start the car but not good enough to hold a good charge over night to run all the modules etc.

New battery fixed the problem and thank god it hasn't happened since.

So I am writing this in case anyone has the same problem, first change your battery!

You can disable the alarm with a Nanocom.

It had nothing to do with alarm.

    Alarm worked as it should.

A lot of people have problems with alarms on these cars but this wasn't it, for some reason if your battery gets old/low siren will go off. Crazy, I know.

If anyone has the same problem please change the battery first before going to LR and get charged a fortune.

Sure it wasn't the horns sounding continuous ?
The alarm wound be a intermittent siren and lights flashing

The same question is going through my head. I'm not aware of a siren either.

    Sorry,It was a continuous horn.

Not the alarm, alarm is bib bib and fleshing indicators.

Anyway, I thought it might save somebody a headache down the line.

    Cheers

When this continuous horn happened to mine at 3am one morning, ended up being the steering wheel horn button had slightly popped out sounding the horn!

The horn still works in a D2 even if vehcile is locked and immobilised...

If it had been the alarm going off at 0300 I would have said "Moth".

...or the suction mounted GPS bracket falling off. Had this happen a few times before I realised what was triggering the alarm. All I could not work out is why it happens at 3am!
