    D2a Rear Tail Lights leaking?

My D2a 2004 has water in both of the upper tail lights. One tail light has gone black due to mould inside I think. My last D2a also developed cracks in the outside of the lense and leaked as well. Is this a common problem with D2's? Is there a solution?

I had the same problem with my D2a. I also resolved the problem this way.

Then I broke the lenses anyway and had to replace them.

They can get cracks in them which let the water in. As stated above the easy and cheap solution is some small drain holes in the bottom. Mines been like this for year with no water collecting in them, no mould or corrosion issues either.

    Alternatively get new lights.

I had one of my lower rear lights and a front indicator let in water regularly.

Front one I sealed the little stone cracks with clear nail varnish.

Rear one found it was leaking around the join and sealed it too with clear nail varnish.

Both times I just cleaned up the lens and sealed with clear nail varnish. So far both have proved water tight.

Well I replaced the blackened upper tail light on the driver's side with a new one. Interestingly when you compare the rubber seals on the lense of the new ones with the old, the new were much more inflated the older washers were compressed and needed replacing (couldn't find a part number), so that might be the leak.

I drilled a 2.5mm hole top and bottom on the old passenger side tail light and dried it out.

I'll try the holes and see how they go. Thanks!
