Wow, looks like this thread created a third type of Storm - a **** Storm!

Not sure I would buy one if I had the cash - half the fun is the build DIY!

What I am curious about is why there is no Defender options? Surely a 300TDI Defender is as simple and reliable as they come?

Storms are reliable but not so much simple, good question about defender though

I'm going to offend people again...
    Don't worry blackrangie, different crowd
Probably because a Defender with big lift, big tyres, etc is less of an ideal daily than a D2 is.
While I don't particularly agree that a 4" lifted D2 on 35s is a great daily, I'd certainly pick one over a Defender with similar mods.
If the mission statement of the storm is to create a 'best of both worlds' vehicle, I think that middle ground comes a lot easier to Discos and Rangies.
That said there does appear to be an option for a custom performance tune on the 300tdi.
Given the stronger internals of the Td5 I'd wager it's a far more performance oriented option as the build features VNTs, intercoolers, etc so the Tdi tune is probably more to make it a bit more daily friendly whereas the Td5 builds are a bit beyond daily friendly.
Yeah yeah V8 people, 6.2L of supercharged yap yap yap

Yep 2.8 and VNT turbo, however after building and driving all these LS Rangies Andrew mentioned his (grey extended wheelbase disco 2) will be LS soon.

The Trocodero Red Rangie owned by the lead mechanic is also now sporting a 5.8L LS1/Strengthened ZF

Spot on, having said that I would love to feel the difference between a diesel/manual fender and an LS/6speed auto.

Huh, didn't know they'd started doing the 2.8 kit yet, knew they were involved but not at production stage yet.
