    Clearing the Amigos

My first question on this forum is about the 3 Amigos. Once you've fixed the problem will the 3 lights disappear or do you need a diagnostic tool to erase them ? I have a feeling my problem is something to do with brake pads or callipers. First time abs light came on, there was a slight shudder from front brakes. Next time I jumped in the car light was off. A week later another shudder abs & tc light came on. Next time I started the car they went out. Then a couple of days later all three came on and stayed for good. I'm not sure if abs or tc are still working. Looks like I'll have buy some sort of diagnostic tool because I really don't want to be going to mechanic as my wallet is already empty.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The car should shudder when the ABS works,, you feel it best through the passenger floor.

ABS is fairly easy to make work, any decent set of road ripples and a heavy brake effort will result in the ABS going off.

    You did invoke the episode?
the lights just didnt come on?

As always, diagnose the problem before spending any money,, electronic gizmo's are fine but much can be achieved by reading about these problems and using a bit of muscle,,

You definitely need a tester for proper diagnostic... what i can tell you for sure is that the pads and discs have nothing to do with the amigos, if they went out all together and the ABS light didnt stay on alone untill above 15km/h it's more likely to be a SVS fault, if the ABS remains on up to 15km/h then the fault is hub/sensor related... in most cases when the fault was rectified they will go out and stay out untill the next fault occurs

Three Amigos will go when fault is fixed. Mine had an intermitent fault. When they visited they would stay on until ignition was switched off.

Get a Nanocom on it. If it comes up as shuttle valve switches do option B.

Myself and many others have done this with great results. Did mine about two years ago. Had no amigos since.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

If it comes up as shuttle valve switches (svs) then option b may or may not fix it. Option b fixes the pcb connection failure in the unit or the loose wire in the external connector. If the switches are faulty, the switches remain faulty.
I saw similar advice re option b just after I got my D2a and the 3 amigos would randomly show up. Found the fault to be a loose external connector to the abs block. 10 minutes of checking; 10 sec fix. No 3 amigos in 4 years. Coincidentally option b also fixes this issue by bypassing the connector block....

Optoin B is so easy and cheap to do I would recommend that it should be done anyway, even if there are no faults. Preventative maintenance.
