The blinking M & S lights showed up a few days ago and have been trawling through the various forums to sus it out. I've recently replaced the battery so it shouldn't be that. Tomorrow I'm replacing the XYZ switch with a 2nd hand one from the wreckers.
But my question is this - could there possibly be a heat related problem causing it to fail?
I ask because this was suggested by the non LR guy who replaced the Tyres and noticed the new Catalytic converters I had just installed. I had asked him what he thought it might be. I haven't seen any mention of heat being an issue for the XYZ switch in the forums.
Since the flashing lights showed up the error has been consistent - usually causing the D2 to go into fail safe mode after about 10-15 minutes (after its warmed up). Last night driving home (it was about 0 degrees out) I noticed it didn't happen at all and all I could think was that the freezing Canberra air was preventing the heat build up.
Granted it seems like an odd connection but someone may have some insight into it..?
Also - what is the XYZ switch referred to as in the Workshop Manual?
Cheers..
How much gap between new cat and xyz?,
I will get it back tomorrow so will have a look and reply back..
Just measured it and its about 120mm from the closest edge of the CAT to the bottom of the actuator/lever arm on the XYZ.
I've just replaced the XYZ and still getting the M&S lights flashing so will have to keep troubleshooting.
