Thank you everyone for your help, it is much appreciated. I'll let you know how I go.
I might even take some pictures and post them up, this question has obviously been posed before, perhaps this will help out the next person.

Just to throw a spanner into the works.
The part numbers for the Valve block assemblies are different in Microcat
V8 is THD100390
TD5 to vin 1a736339 is THD100360
TD5 ECD3 is THD000010
Googling those part numbers just comes up with sellers saying for D2 199-2004, for all, and doesn't give any differentiation between them.
Maybe a telephone call to a ZF trans rebuilder might give some answers
Cheers,
Mario

Just an important update.
I have not been able to test what I've done yet as I'm waiting on my rebuilt torque converter. On that the Trans specialist (who owns an auto RRC) advised against the change of stall and recommended different transfer case Low Range gears instead.
It was possible to create the auto I needed from V8 auto ZF4HP22 I think serial # 763 from a 2003 D2a and TD5 ZF4HP22 serial # 773.
The V8 auto had a cracked case from the front prop shaft exploding so i had to swap the internals also. IT WAS NECESSARY ANYWAY TO END UP WITH A TD5 AUTO.
It is not a matter of changing the bell-housing and governor extension housing.
The auto output shaft that item 3 in 'Roverlord off road spares' exploded diagram bolts onto is almost twice as long on the TD5 auto. NOTE item 3 is the same in both auto boxes as it is just an adapter shaft for the LT230 transfer case.
I was able to swap and change the internals to get a working (hopefully) TD5 auto. I have all the clutch plates and planet gears from the V8 with the correct length shafts.
Contradictory to 'Roverlord off road spares' accurate observation, the item number of the valve bodies are different, i've used the V8 one as i believe my TD5 valve body is damaged from heat as the black outer insulation around the solenoid wires has melted.
I'll let you all know how i get on.

TD5 torque converter is being rebuilt with larger and stronger internals. I'm pretty sure the stall will be the same as standard.
Transtyle Automatic Transmissions in Hallam is where I dropped it off and they sent it off to be reconditioned. Approx cost $400.

Any updates as to whether this ever worked?
