front drive shaft / axle / half shaft
Hi Guys.
I am chasing some part numbers please.
Disco 2 front right ( short ) half shaft
I have a range rover p38, ( and a d2 td5 ) but think a d2 shaft is the same.
The short on a p38 is left, the d2 short one is the right.
I have been having some problems lately with my 97 p38.
One of my issues is my front left drive shaft / half shaft, or what ever your choice of name is.
I've got a new cv joint fitted, but the collar on the shaft came loose and of course will not hold the oil in the housing now.
I had glued it back on, but only lasted a week with about 50km of driving.
So, looking for a new drive shaft. the complete unit including the cv joint is
TDB104090
But as funds are very tight, I am thinking I'll knock off the cv joint I just put on, and replace the shaft. So, who knows the part number.
I am thinking that a disco 2 shaft is the same, but as I do not know, nor find the part number, I have no way of checking. I know that the complete unit with joint is different.
Reason I would like to know is that a d2 shaft is easy to find. A p38, not so easy. ( well not for a cheap price.
Thanks in advance.

Do a search for Land Rover Microcat online and you will find how to access the Land Rover parts database.

Retroanaconda.com is a good place to start.

The front drive shaft on a D2 is part number B03.015. On the range rover 1995-runout the part number is B03.025.
This is what I have just found from microcat.

Thanks every one.
I had tried going through part numbers, called the dealer up and any thing else I could think of.
I was unable to find a part number for the p38, so just bought a new one from the states.
I reckon here in Perth It would've cost me more to get someone to machine up a collar than what the shaft cost. I was unable to buy the shaft alone as no one listed the shaft only, only complete with a cv joint.
Cheers Simon
Thanks for you assisstance
