sounds like a rock has fallen between the pipes and chassis.
Hey guys,
I have a strange noise when I accelerate/decelerate/hold throttle at certain revs. It's a 'waaaah' noise that is in unison with the revs of the vehicle, and I think it's linked to the ACE pipes, under the driver's side. On tickover, if I get underneath and hold all the pipes together firmly in my hand, the noise stops. I'm no circus performer and clearly can't drive along in this manner...any suggestions as to how I can cure the noise, or why it even does it...?
I've not heard of others doing it.
Chars!

Lewy, you're a genius. I looked underneath near the ACE unit and, sure enough, wedged between bracket and pipes, a small stone less than 10mm diameter!
Many thanks, bud. It's been driving me to distraction!

My new 2003 D2A had a weld blob on the chassis directly behind the ACE valve block. It only needed a tiny grain to get stuck to cause lots of noise especially when doing sharp left turns. The LR rep authorised the replacement of the pump, pipes and valve block but asked that first a hacksaw blade be passed between the chassis and valve block to ensure nothing stuck behind. I ground off the blob.
