Kev , search 'CDL' (centre diff lock). There will be a million responses.
Guys,
Has anyone had the mod done to reinstate diff lock on their D2? Whilst I have had no issue so far with the combo of ABS/TC, I believe there's no substitute for having a physical diff lock in some situations.
Thoughts? Easy? Expensive?!

Hey Bohica!
Wow...well, I checked that link out and concluded that I'll stick with the ABS/TC, as the alternative looks like a huge amount of faffing about!!

Seriously?
It's an easy job that makes the vehicle vastly more capable.
Add to that, If you're using it offroad it improves the longevity of transfer case components.

Hmmm...OK, I'll revisit the link. I was tired when I looked at it, and obviously not in the right frame of mind! Not like me to shirk from a challenge!
Cheers bud!

Well it is on my list of things to do over the summer, I'd call it fart arsing about, but, you do get better control,
The only tricky bit is removing the console, cutting the transfer lever hole out.
Cheers

Honestly the hardest part I found (not that I've replaced the lever but gotten up to it) was re-fitting the handbrake cable with the clevis pin, that was an absolute bastard of a job on my own.
But besides that, easy peasy.
you dont have to do it from the console hi/lo lever.
I fitted mine from underneath using a rod end on a joggled plate on the gearbox spigot , ran an 8mm ss rod between chassis body with a simple fairlead and tee handle welded onto the the rod.
one has to step out of the car to engage/disengage , but remember it was no problem to have get out of the car years ago to engage/disengage front wheel hubs.
we are becoming a lazy mob of bastards aren't we?
Well worth doing. First, make sure your transfer case has the internals fitted for the CDL. How to tell is explained here, Bob
