that is correct rear unit is cold only
Hi guys,
I just noticed that I can't get hot air to blow through the rear vents. It remains cold constantly. According to the user manual "rear aircon supplies cooled and dried air to the rear passengers". Does it mean you can never get hot air to blow through the rear vents?
The other thing is I noticed that the front air temperature increases with acceleration and drops when the car isn't accelerating or on idle. Could it be my compressor on the way out?
Thanks 😊

The rear aircon unit is a looooong way from the radiator----
Though I suppose, if you lived somewhere really horribly cold, like Victoria, you could fit a second hand matrix in the other rear bin.

Hi,
Re your front temp issue, you should first check the electric thermo fan in front of your condenser.
If it's not working this could be the reason. They can seize with age, which means it also blows the 40amp fuse (engine bay fuse box).
If that is all working, then I'd look at the condenser itself. If it is blowing cold air then you compressor is probably okay.
Cheers Jerry
Gas may be low. U might have a leak.
Rear air con' is cooling only, no heating. Rear air con' delivers through the air vents above the 2nd and 3rd row seating. If the temp' change you speak of in the front is whilst trying to heat, the compressor plays no part in the heating ability. It's for air con' cooling only. Heat is delivered via the dash vents, under dash vets, and from the base of the cubby box at floor level in the 2nd row seating.
If the temp' is increasing under acceleration, then the engine temp (coolant temperature) has to be increasing to allow a corresponding increase in heater temperature ... Or maybe an increased air flow over the heater core if your climate control air is set to fresh instead of recirc' ?
Does it still happen if the climate control is set to recirculate ? If yes, then the only reason the heater will get hotter is if the heater core temperature increases, and that means there's been an increase in the engine coolant temperature.
