Mud terrain options on stock D2

Currently running bog standard 255/55R18s and the car hasn't had any body lift or suspension mods.

What options do I have for muddies (sizes) without upgrading suspension or adjusting lock stop nuts or buying spacers etc?

Should I be keeping an eye out for a set of R16 D2 alloys?

A mate ran 265/75/16 BFG KM2s on a stock d2 with a mild guard roll. Rubbed a bit though.
Good size muds in 18" look awesome but cost a pretty penny, I'd be looking for some 16*8s

Your mate must wheel pretty hard if he got them to rub

Get yourself a stock standard set of D2 16" alloys and put some 235x85 16 BFG KM2s. I have them on my stock D2a no lifts or adjustments.

As a side note, also consider drive-ability, to increase to say 265/75's or 235/85's is a 10% increase in size, which is a 10% change in gearing, which will affect your economy and performance. It may not sound much, but it is.

Unless you have a need for taller tyres, I wouldn't change the size much, otherwise factor in ratio changes and performance mods etc. into your plan and budget.

Anywho, I'm off to buy a set of new diff gears

I'm running BF KM2s in a 245/75/16 I find them to be a great tyre and no adjustments required... Oh and they're still legal....

So it looks like I need some 16 inch rims...

Were the D2s shipped on 16x7 steel rims and then fitted with their mags here the way D1s allegedly were, or shipped on their 18x8 and 16x8 mags?

Are their any cheap steel 16 inch wheels for D2s?

    Forget steels.
LR alloys are strong, light weight, and hold beads like nobodies business.
Either 16*8 or 16*7 will be fine.

Yes plenty of affordable alloys 16" x 7"for D2s. Friend got a set of five for less than $300. They I'll come with tyres most of the time as it costs to get rid of old tyres, $100-$125 a wheel will see you the owner of a new set.
