So Roberto that's airbags not engine mounts? $220AUD is very similar to me if its the bags, where from, which brand and how much for freight?
I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Atlantic British (there price was $169USD + del each OEM airbag but they don't sell td5 parts in the US so mounts not available there) and British Parts Utah too. This parts buying depends a lot on the AUD to US or GBP conversion at the time really. Sometimes I too have found it cheaper to buy from the US believe it or not.
The other thing I don't get is the freight costs, freight prices are all over the shop. Further none of the overseas suppliers that I've ever had anything to do with, has ever been able to send parts via ship, which can be half the freight cost of by air, and 4 times the timeframe too, but if you can wait that's ok.
I used to find that a lot of suppliers, just really didn't care about their overseas sales, as it was probably not a large share of their market. Over time and I think as more people have been using the internet, that that market is getting bigger, and they have had to service it, and that with this increased volume I think prices are improving for us. I might be wrong but that's my perception.
Hi we don't list every avail part to us on ebay. People just send us a message if they need something not listed.
The pitfall on buying O/S is when you have a warranty claim, sending parts back at your expense to the UK or US will leave you feeling deflated.
Cheers,
Mario
I accept that risk. In the 10 years I've been buying parts O/S I've only ever had to send something back once. I might add it was a third of the cost to get it here because I sent it back by sea.
Quality is the key to my strategy, I buy the best quality I can, mostly LR Genuine but not always. Research is your friend and there is a lot of information around if you look.
I have always paid through the nose for parts thru LR dealerships and some LR expert mechanics over the last 16 years. I'm retired now and have to make my $ go as far as it can.
I buy locally too if its the right price only, for instance I bought an AMC TD5 Head in Brisbane last year from AMC's Queensland Distributor because it was cheaper than buying the head from Turners in England, however the gaskets, bolts kits etc etc all were supplied by Turners because they were cheaper for those parts, Turners got over it too, in the end they were just pleased to help me at the best price possible.
