Thread: Are D2 parts prices getting cheaper.....finally!!

I just got 2x spare air springs. My original Conti's only lasted about 5 1/2 years so I replaced them with Dunlops which are now 6yrs old (and still going strong)... The Dunlops I just received were about $100AUD ea. Island4x4.co.uk. also got an XYZ switch in the same order ... $460AUD and 50GBP freight (about $100AUD).

They have genuine engine mounts for 40GBP. (bit over $80ea)

Cheapest air springs I could find locally were $230ea + delivery.

... Getting cheaper ? I paid the same price for the Dunlops 6 years ago. Never really thought the prices were over the top compared to other marques parts prices. Need to shop around though if your not in a hurry.

Always find Karcraft to be pretty good. Looking for a new genuine MAF and they are the same price (plus postage) as I can get one from the UK for delivered ... I'll buy locally and pay the difference in postage .... Engine mounts on the other hand are $187ea

So do I. They're fast also. They do sell a lot of unbranded OEM parts, eg it will be a VDO MAF sensor instead of a LR MAF sensor (made by VDO) etc. they are priced very well in comparison also. You will probably find the airbags they sell are also OEM factory branded rather than LR branded airbags (if that hold any appeal).

If you send them a message from their web page where you ask for a quote and ask for, they'll email you their current Land Rover PDF price list. Has genuine, oem, and 3rd party/pattern pricing.

Easy guys to deal with, and yes, quick delivery.

Well I've paid over $500 each for bags thru a mechanic plus labour a few years ago. And was quoted $500 the pair recently by a mechanic for the engine mounts plus labour. I am now trying to source my parts myself, soooo much cheaper, and my current mechanic doesn't mind me supplying the parts but my previous mechanic got a little hot under the collar about it.


I researched AULRO to see which bags to use, most people said Conti's had the same screw on connection and are the same product as original. Other's had used Dunlop's with success too. This forum has also given me the confidence via a tutorial to install the bags at least myself, I'll still get my mechanic to do the mounts next service.

Had a look at LRDirect's site in England, they list Conti's for $219.07 and Genuine at $438.85 both each plus delivery from England.


Just so pleased to be able to use the net for parts.

I've always thought D2 pricing to be cheap, but not in Australia.

If you order from the UK and are prepared to wait a fews days, then you can find what you want at the right price.

There is then, of course, the argument about supporting your local supplier. That's up to the individual.

Contis use the original screw in fitting.
Dunlops you need to cut the fitting off and insert the hose as they have a different fitting arrangement

Well if the parts price delivered from O/S = the parts price delivered from Oz I'll always support the local supplier in Oz, but a lot of the time we pay double what Landrover customers pay in the UK, in Australia.


It amazes me both the price of LR parts and also the variance you get from suppliers on the freight, that's what offends me sometimes you can buy a part for $100 and they want $100 in addition for freight!
