Air filters on the D2 without a snorkel is always a problem in dust, but the rest is...well...
Any way glad he is back on the way, I suspect more problems will present themselves before the trip is over, but it should be a good vehicle by the time he gets back
He has a snorkel, maybe it's facing forward and getting the leading vehicles dust?

That's almost funny in regards to the diff centre.
On our first Fraser Island trip I was doing the oil change a day before in the classic, and there was a lot of shiny and gritty material in the back diff oil.

Without time to investigate wipped a rear third member out of the lse and tied it in the back of the car.
The diff has been fine for 25,000k since then.

he is probably running 20" rims

Since running BFG A/T's from '02,and travelled all over the countryside, many trips into remote areas,i have never changed a tyretouch wood.

i used to carry a second spare always, but for lightness, now just carry a spare carcass.

Duct tape and cable ties boys.
Remember: chrome won't get you home, but duct tape will

I got another phone call today, he managed to get a D1 diff from a caravan park in Coen, there were 2 rolled D1s, so $200 paid for the diff and he's mobile again.
