I have read that they can handle low fluid withoug damage, i havd been on the side of the rd with leaking cooler lines and massive fluid loss and just kept filling and driving to get home.

So having just spent a squillion dollars on an auto box refurb about a month ago, I'm now sitting in the Disco on the side of the road with a pool of pink oil underneath. Not a huge pool, so perhaps it's been losing it steadily. Who knows!
How much damage to a box can you do running it with low/no ATF?
Glad I've got the warranty documents at home.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
If you were real low ! ? the box would have been acting weird or feeling strange ?
If she was driving normally ? , it is a good chance that you have done no damage ...
It is amazing how little fluid it takes to make what looks like a huge pool on the road ..
I think the road surface magnifies anything leaking from vehicleslol

What Drinking problem ? ... I never miss my mouth with the can !

Still missing my old 96 Diesel - RIP
Well, basically it was driving fine, and then no drive. As in stopped on a major road! A very oily engine bay, oily under body and oily back door.
Thankfully a couple of other drivers helped my wife move the Landy off the road.
So thinking about it, I do know that the engine bay was clean and oil free (well, oil free for a Landy) just 24 hrs ago when I checked oil & water. So I reckon whatever happened must have happened fairly quickly, not a slow loss. Engine temp was normal, no faults listed on the Nanocom on either the engine or auto ECUs.
It's been taken on a tray to the auto box mechanic, who will have a look at it tomorrow, so here's hoping!
I think the flexible return line from the cooler will have blown off, its on the left . It seems to get soft and then can shed its clamps and pop off. Hope it is not terminal.
Cheers Scott
Just heard back from the mechanics, and they're saying its the return hose blowing off at the radiator. Nothing to do with them, they're saying. I'm not real happy with that, given how much I've just spent with them less than 6 weeks ago. Hopefully will hear about the state of the transmission shortly or at least state of the oil.
This is getting to be a common occurrence,,

Just been told the fluid is brown & burnt, and definitely not their fault. I'm trying to organise to get down there and have a look this afternoon.
Any thoughts from mechanics here? Gearbox comes out, goes back in, a burst fitting at the radiator end 6 weeks later - linked or coincidence? Think I'm going to try and get an independent inspection/opinion.
""fluid is brown & burnt""
... after 6 weeks ???
I'd be querying that!
