    Engine Monitor Advice.

I have been for a while now wanting to get an EGT gauge and a low coolant monitor/alarm.
Having just ordered a new turbo, boost box and fuel map from Td5 inside, I reckon I also now need a boost gauge as well.

Rather than have three separate gauges I was thinking of an EMS Madman.
These are very pricey though. Is there any other option?

Who has one in there D2 and where/how did you mount it?

Rectangle one or the round one?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Cant comment on the EMS madman, but what i did was ...

    1. Purchase a WIFI OBD plugin off ebay for $19
    2. Used my old Iphone 4 - set up in a charging cradle on the dash and its linked to the OBD wifi sender
    3. Purchased the DASHCOMMAND APP for iphone

This app reads all the OBD data and gives you customizable screens to monitor your engine data live.

You can set alarms on the coolant temp, and many other things.

As this was my old phone, I don't use the iphone for anything else now except as a monitoring tool. Don't have a sim in it anymore.

Is a cheap way of live engine monitoring, and very accurate.

Rather than just a coolant alarm, it allows me to monitor a lot more, plus even reads fault codes.

I purchase a charging cradle off ebay for $45 - wired it in permanently, and i have a ipone driven live OBD monitoring tool.

Heres a couple of screenshots from the iphone.

If anyone's interested i will take a couple of picks of the actual set up working in my car tomorrow and post them.

ahh ok - didn't know that - i thought the OBD output was the same as the V8. Learn something every day!

HeHe, Its landrover engineering! The EMS system seems to get good reviews from users. The round face appears popular.

Dave. Run your Nano Evo on the dash in instrument mode ... gives you what you want and then add a dedicated EGT (one of the Auber pyro's) that can be mounted where your coin tray goes.

I think the Auber unit is available in a dual function (ie:egt/boost or egt/trans temp, depending on how you configure it). The Evo instrument mode already does boost ... Add an Enginesaver low coolant alarm and your good to go.

... or the Madman EMS1/2 is the other choice !

Love the look of the gauge in the D2 pic. How did you make it?
Do you have a pic of it mounted in the car?

Excellent. You could make a good sideline business with those A pillar mods, especially for D2s etc with limited extra gauge room!!!!

I don't have a pic of it in the car. But I shall take one when I get gone tonight.
