    2003 disco td5 taken up smoking

    Hi and thanks in advance but the td5 pumps/ bellows out black soot on hard acceleration can't see more than 2 meters behind car, but drive normal and give it little bit of accelerating nothing except a small puff of black soot I have changed to silicon hoses and cleaned out inter cooler , no faults stored in ecm and not chipped or remapped. Map cleaned and maf appears ok not able to swap with another.
    How much is normal under full acceleration , any area I can check that may help.
    I had landies all my life but this first td5

    Try a diesel injector cleaner and see if that cleans out some gunk. Also, is your engine oil dirty? Regular changes get rid of gunk.

    You can also try running with the maf disconnected to see if it makes a difference

    Ok will give running with maf a go in morning if it stops black smoking will replace with new thanks

    Under full, hard acceleration in a diesel there will be lots of soot / black smoke due to unburnt fuel.

    Rubbish..... Its not a Yank truck... Properly tuned Diesels even under full juice dont produce a smoke screen...


    A little is acceptable, a lot is not...
