Looks very nice, welcome to this little group.
Good on you Mark. With those k's on it everything (well probably almost everything) has already been rectified so all you have to do is enjoy the ride.

Well after a few weeks and a couple of thousand k's the only things I've found wrong apart from the starter motor are definitely at the very minor end of the scale. The clock backlight, the radio backlight and a slow leak from the passenger side rear tyre. There's a couple of VERY, VERY minor coolant leaks - a couple of drops so far from the radiator end of the top hose. Worth keeping an eye on methinks.
I haven't crawled under the car far enough to see whether or not the CDL innards are there yet but I'll get to that soon enough. Fuel consumption seems good - around 900 or so k's before the light comes on. No oil drops in the driveway which suits me...
So far I'm happy and so is SWMBO.
Oh yeah - I need a new battery - the one that's in it still works but is getting tired...
Cheers,

[QUOTE=Markf;2413232]Pics WILL come when and if it manages to stop raining here in Moe...
Having owned a Series 1, Series 2a SWB, a Series III SWB Diesel and a Range Rover classic I was VERY concerned when I was in the reverse Pope position [1] under the car putting a protective layer of knuckle skin on various bits while I was removing the starter motor. There were NO obvious oil leaks. In my experience a MOST unlikely situation for a Land Rover or any British car for that matter. I've owned a few British cars (Triumph herald, Hillman Minx, Rover P6 V8 (dropped big end), XJ6, LR's, RR (dropped big end), Mini 997 Cooper among others. They ALL leaked oil. Generally speaking a lack of oil leaks meant a lack of oil...:-)
A question that comes to mind is WHAT idiot came up with the idea of that nut. Every other car that I've owned only had two bolts...
[1] The Pope position is laying prostate on the floor. The reverse Pope position is laying on your back on the floor.
I wouldnt like to imagine anyone laying a prostate on the floor![]()
My D2 V8 manual did not leak from any orifice until about 160,000k - it was spooky.
Cheers
