hmm, so why did they quote me so much more.
glad i went other options
Phil has never updated the web site. There is no 4.6 short complete. TRS do reco v8's to order. I opted to keep the 4.6 heads. I read somewhere that the RR 4.6 heads had a slightly different port design. The extra torque is very noticeable and so is power especially if it's a high comp - stock high comp was 9.35:1. Generally Aust RR was low comp in the 4.6. High Comp is also better for LPG. I have a BRC Impco.
Cheers
yea but the 4.6 piston crown CC is 22.29,,whereas the 4L is 13.23,,
does it make a seat of the pants difference??
who knows:p,, but with compression, smaller is better:cool:
Late Edit, it would seem this is the difference between high and low compression Thor engines
Have I got this right?
The distance from the (edge?) piston crown to the center of its crank bearing?
Can anyone tell me the two measurements?
4L Vs 4.6
Thanks
I didn't know that it was smaller...so what does that take the comp too?
Cheers
who knows,,
I asked that question in the Tech forum and got a lot of dead air--
I've also just asked if anyone knows the different lengths between the 4L rods and pistons and the 4.6,, I think its around 4mm,,
see here part 3--;)
Buick 215 Rover 3.5 Land Rover 4.0 and 4.6 differences
Due to the typical response I get from posts in the Tech Forum, I've moved it here hoping for at least some info.
Thats hard to find, mostly only concerned with stroke and piston crown clearence. Given that the stroke on the 4 is 71.1mm and the 4.6 is 82mm and both use the same crank, the best would be to have an actual set and check. Thats about the best I can think of or find at the moment.
