I grew up with Holden motors and re-built a few. The high comp Thor 4.6 was well ahead of the 5000i (5.0 injected) holded V8 that graced the VN and VT Series 1. Despite being .4 litres smaller the little alloy Brit had more torque and it came in at a full 1000rpm less than the 5.0 holden. Even the HSV 5.0 VT had only slightly more torque but again max torque came in 1000 rpm higher.
In terms of weight of course the 4.6 was a lightweight compared to the cast iron motors.
I maintain the 4.6 Rover boxed above its weight. And the light weight made it perfect for offroading and handling.
Cheers
I dare say your Dinosaur is not even in the same pond as ours,, :p
Ok i just love my 4.6. For now im revelling in the grunt but down the track i might be tempeted to a Mark Adams reprogram and the bigger intake. Cheers
The 4.6 definitely loves the bigger fuel map ;)
I have my bigger intake and maf here,
its sitting on the floor waiting for some inspiration,,
maybe its why the exhaust is so black,,
Hmmm...
I was considering a D3 V8....
D2 V8 HSEs don't cost that much these days.... would need a manual cog swapper... :burnrubber:
Don't think the v8 d3 comes with anything but a slush box mate,
I love my 5 speed manual.
Cheers
Yep, D3 V8 is auto only.
Was more referring to the 4.6 in a D2 needing an R380.
We need exhaust note vids too :)
