YOU should check it yourself if you are modifying the vehicle. ;) The rules are not consistent across the country, there is a lot of misinterpretation of the rules, the is a lot of inorrect information that gets passed around and you are responsible for the compliance of your modifications. Check absolutely everything yourself in relation to modifications and rules. I believe in the past there were even Engineer signatories that have approved beyond their scope based on the information that I have been able to find.

265/75/16 is a good size, that won't require many mods besides a mild suspension lift. Anything larger will rub.

The steel wheel povo pack was only a MY 2002 model.

Great save on the brochure pedro, but to be fair it only covers the pre update models. Except for the Polar wheel all the options were different for the D2a update.

I'm running standard 16x7rims with 245/70lt tyres. Very happy with them and with the rear airbags raised, there is more than enough clearance for by off road excursions.

245/75/R16 or 265/70/R16 seems to be the only common sizes options keeping under the 8% or 50mm tyre size increase regulations now adopted in most states. :) http://www.hyperaustralia.com/tyre_calc.htm

For ride comfort and off road capability I would be gong no wider than 235 or 245, then select the profile you want based on the hieght you want.

Also have a good look at typical tyre pricing. The same model 16in tyre can be as much as $100ea cheaper than its 18in equivalent.

I'm running 245/75 BF KM2s on standard D2 alloy rims. I've got a 40mm lift but ran these tyres with no lift and didn't have any issues. The tyres are great and the size seems to suit the D2 with a manual gear box. I haven't gone any bigger as I want to comply with the current Vic regs...

I did the same. The scrub very lightly on my d1 but not on my d2 with bullbar. Then a 2in lift. Great size and plenty of LT's in different brands.

265/70 on std suspension (with SLS). No rubbing, no issues. No lift.

It's a D2a Classic (2004) ... so the std (6 spoke) rims are 8" wide. Std tyres on these were 255/65. I ran 255/70 for a while, and when I needed to put new tyres on, the 245/75 weren't really suited to the wider rims. The 245/75 + 265/70 are for all intent the same dia' ... about 6% oversize.

Very happy with the 265/70 (Dueler 697LT AT's). Makes a true 90km/hr roadspeed 2000rpm engine speed.
