Ive just installed a Bond battery. Fitted into the arb tray easy. They say it wont cook. I'll tell you in a year or so.

I cooked a couple in my V8. Now with the diesel, it dosent feel anywhere near as hot as the V8. Time will tell.

Finally did the agm in the rear left panier storage.

Then put the ARB compressor on the battery tray in the engine bay, but it got very hot to touch and I was worried about it's lifespan there. So I built a box around it fitted with a 12v computer fan and flexible duct from next to the radiator. Looks weird but is effective at keeping the temp down to reasonable figures. There's a post on here somewhere with pics which I can find if anyone's interested.

    cheers

    HeyMundy,

Id be keen to have a look at your setup

    cheers

Awesome setup, how did you secure the battery tray to the car floor?

Sorry to take so long, I had to find the photos.

I have attached 5. The first two show the install of the dual battery in the rear left storage box. I made another box to fit over the top so I didn't lose all the storage space which is at a premium in a disco. These show the original compressor located behind the fridge slide.

The next 3 photos show the ARB compressor on the ARB battery tray under the bonnet, then the interim construction stage of the box and the computer fan and finally the finished box and flexible tube. The fan runs when ever the iginition is on. The flexible pipe is a 1m flexible pool hose you can get from Bunnings. You have to remove the box to turn on the compressor but that on takes a few seconds. As I said, not completely pretty but it works a treat.

I have also since modified the electrics to the dual battery to include a dc to dc charger and to make the electrics look a little neater.

Measure the mounts for the 3rd row seat and weld tabs onto the tray as required. Quite easy actually. I packed the tray up with a formed timber base with rubber on the top.

A 120AH AGM Full River will just fit into the space.

Cheers Catmatt. I'm pretty good at fabrication (I should be as an ex welder) and have worked on boats doing the electrical fit out.

Newbie with dual battery / compressor query

Hi all - im 17 year Pajero owner that has just traded her in for a near new 2016 d4.

The disco is the fourby I always wanted but I am finding there are some challenges. I have an intervolt dual battery system and an arb compressor and have heard a few ideas about where and how to fit them.
I just put a deposit down on an outback accessories battery tray - can you all advise whether this is a wise idea or whether I should use something else?

The deep cycle battery is near new 95ah hi tec brand.

I kind of like the idea of fitting the compressor under the bonnet but the passenger jack compartment also sounds like a plan.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers

    Dave
