I tried all this when I rebuilt my engine (with a lot of help from Discorevy) and in vain depressed the throttle to the floor and held it there while cranking. After not to long it sounded like it wanted to start but still no go. After that I pumped the peddle. Than it started.

Success
Now running. I did not wind it over long enough the first time I tried the (ignition, 5 pumps, ignition off then on and start). Was concerned about overheating the starter. Just needed to wind engine over a little longer and away it went.
Thanks to AULRO, Jazzman, discorevy, sierrafery and eddy for your input. Your knowledge has been invaluable over the years.
Cheers

Hi Eddy,
So that's what that is................ha!!! Thank you.
I had a similar problem to the one Devo is having and found a problem with the crankshaft angle sensor, accidentally knocked it...............
Cheers Marty.
