    Clever ideas

The small chrome cylinder is one of two temp sensors I need to fit for my new gauges,, while I plan on attaching one to the trans outlet pipe with a small worm drive clamp (I have a spare sensor to "pressure" test),,
I need to attach the other to give me engine coolant temps---

    any clever ideas on how/where?

    block?
    front or back?
    inside coolant hose(maybe?)

IMO if you are fitting additional sensors do the job as to bring you closer to the reality, i mean the engine coolant temp sensor signal is VERY important for the engine management and all you can see is the gauge which goes to the middle at 70*C and up from there at 120, what's between these temps is mystery without an additional sensor, it's vital part of the addaptive strategy so fit your sensor as close to the original ECT sensor as possible, for that you might find some kind of fitting to hold the sensor and screw it into the elbow near the ECT sensor, see how i did with mine just that my sensor was screwable, only a hole and a thread in the elbow is needed(off course if you decide to do that remove the elbow to not let debris into the engine)

Thanks Sierrafera, your engine was wrong but your idea of closest to sensor/hottest location was good
How about attached to No 9 ?
is a metal coolant pipe on the outlet of the manifold and about 3" away from where the sensor is plugged in.
I can always check the result with my Torque App

and no,, this is not my engine but the pic shows the pipe is accessible just need to be careful with the wiring

    no way.
havent lifted the bonnet in months.
Mrs Pedro has wanted the washer bottle refilled for at least half that time and she's had no luck either.

I completely missed that it's about a V8 ... that pipe looks good enough to me
