Autobox R position indication on dash

Hi, anyone knows how exactly the R symbol is triggered when reverse is selected?... i have a manual so i can't check live inputs on mine but relying only on RAVE and corroborating different infos from descriptions and diagrams i thought the R on the LCD is managed by the BCU based on the XYZ switch's reverse contact but it seems it's not... any ideas?

Would have thought so too , but usually if its not showing on the dash it is a bad contact in xyz switch , the other way to test is turn wipers and ign on and select reverse , should make the rear wiper come on as well. If not then rebuild the xyz switch, you could have a look at the rear wiper circuit on rave and see if that helps, sorry been fighting a bush fire so off to bed for me

Thanks, everything was checked(rear wiper too) and no feed on the reverse light circuit which is going to BCU too but the R on dash is coming on normally that's the dillema

Yes, it drives back, R on dash working but there's no feed on that GN wire circuit which comes from the XYZ switch's reverse contact and splits between the BCU, reverse lights, etc. so no reverse lights, automatic wiper or PDC ... that's why i'm confused cos there's no other "reverse selected" input to BCU so from where it gets the signal for R symbol??? .... i can presume that only based on the X contact input which is the only closed on R

Is it possible that its allowing enough current to illuminate r but not enough to light reverse lamps etc , try bridging feed in to reverse out to eliminate xyz( sorry don't have rave access ATM ), also there should be no blank position indicator even if you slowly go through the gears p.r.d.3.2.1.
Although if there was a gap in display this would normally cause m+s lights to flash.

There's no voltage on the GN wire with connector unplugged.... i'm waiting for the man to answer cos i asked him to remove F25 and see if the R comes on cos if yes it's certain that it's triggered by something else

I cropped and edited the relevant part of the diagram to reveal the dillema, the measurements were not made by me as i was trying to help a chap on landyzone through forum and he states that he made the measurement well on the proper pin and wire according to the connector view and there's no feed at C0668-1(male part coming from switch) with reverse selected but the R is on dash normally(which is the strange thing) while no reverse lights, wiper or PDC(which is normal without feed there)... in the BCU description C0661-8 is the only input for "reverse gear selected" so as long as teh R is on(provided the measuremnet was made well) the only conclusion can be that it's triggered by other signal ...the only one i can imagine is the X contact input from the switch to BCU C0662-13 which is the only one closed on R but it's closed on N and 3 too, so if it's that it means there's some complicated algorythm in the BCU's software which can distinguish the selected gear by comparing all the X, Y, Z inputs.... i'm confused, still waiting to see if the R comes on without F25 or not cos if it doesnt it means that the measurement was wrong and the dillema is solved
