Hey,
Anyone out there had a go at dust proofing a td5? With summer coming on I thought I might have to get on with this job
Cheers

I just blocked off the aircon outlets behind the side panels with duct tape.
Then all you do is keep the aircon on and the selector on fresh to pressurize the interior, except when oncoming cars come when you get your Navi to press the recirc button if you can gain her attention.
Check that the doors have their plastic membrane still and if not replace it.
Mine still gets some dust in but far less than the RRC which would not be hard.

There is a breather at the inner rear driver's side guard.

There is only 1 outlet at the rear as per ozscott's post. it is supposed to allow flow through ventilation via rubber flaps, ie. when the inside pressure is high, as in the fresh air controles on, they open and let air out. The problem being in that as the rubber ages it loses flex and can hang open letting dust enter the car. Simple fix is remove the side trim, remove the vent, it is a plastic push fit arrangment, and either ,A, silastic the rubber shut, or B, cut a stiff plastic or metal cover and affix it over the vent, sealing it with sicka flex, then push the vent box back in, again with sealing, and voila! No more dust!![]()
For flow through just lower a rear window a tad, although in reality I have noticed no probs with fresh air flow. I think there is enough gap around the doors to allow for it.

Mine has been sikaflexed up for years because my lpg vent is near there and you dont want lpg coming back in if it ever leaked at solenoids. These trucks get plenty of air in and out in other areas.

Thanks for the info guys! Mine's a 7 seater with rear A/C, with the 3rd row seats removed. Drifta drawers fitted, so I have an empty recess where the RH rear bin would be on a 5 seater. I store my tools there. After our last trip that area is full of red dust (as well as a lot of the rear of the Disco) ... Know I know why, and what to do to fix it.
It's like we bought 1/2 of Outback NSW home with us !![]()
