Air conditioning and vent on floor

    Hi,

When my HVAC is set manually to face a lot of air is still coming out of the floor vents and only when I set the controls to windscreen that the air coming out of the floor vents stops...I don't recall it doing that when it was new. Can you guys let me know what happens with yours ?

I had a leak in the AC. It was a connector near the radiator and it was identified, regassed and deemed fixed. Trouble is it only cools to 10.4 degrees c at the front face level (thermocouple sitting almost touching the vent) vents on the best speed setting - ie 2-3 level. Condenser fan operates. It may be less than impressive because it's leaking a fair bit to the floor vents...it is not rocking my boat on a 33degree day so I would hate to see it when it's a really hot day!

    Cheers

The flaps might have broke, the d1 I have has that issue. I suspect if it is, then you get hot air from them as the one flap controls off, hot and cold I think.
Though perhaps it has broken in the cold position. If so, be thankful, mine is on hot and that really sucks.

Check out carefully the factory set operation mode and compare cos what you say might be normal operation, it has a very strange behaviour by default:

    Air distribution control

To control the air distribution within the cabin the ATC ECU signals the servo motor controlling the distribution flaps
in the heater assembly to move to the flaps to the appropriate position.
In the automatic and economy modes, if the LH or RH temperature selections are set to LO or HI, air distribution is
    fixed as follows:
    - If one is set to LO and one is set to a specific temperature, to face level only.
    - If one is set to HI and one is set to a specific temperature, to footwells only.
    - If one is set to LO and one is set to HI, to face level and footwells.
When specific LH and RH temperature selections are set, air distribution is determined from the target air outlet
temperatures. For higher target air outlet temperatures, air distribution is set to footwells only. For lower target air
outlet temperatures, air distribution is set to face level only. For intermediate target air outlet temperatures, air
distribution is set to face level and footwells. When the air distribution is set to face level and footwells, the ATC ECU
varies the bias between the footwells and the face level outlets, in three stages, to provide a gradual transition of air
distribution from footwells only to face level only. The three stages of bias are also employed when the air distribution
is manually selected to face level and footwells.
During warm-up, the air distribution changes to face level and footwells for a period, then reverts to footwells only.
The period of air distribution at face level and footwells can be cancelled by pressing and holding the on/off and defrost
mode switches, then turning the ignition switch from off to on. Pressing and holding the AUTO and defrost switches,
then turning the ignition switch from off to on, restores the period of air distribution at face level and footwells.

Thanks mate. No mine never gets off partial floor even when both sides set to low.

Can a fluff covered temp sensor cause it not to get cold enough?

For faulty sensor it should display a faulyt code, so does for a duff flap servo motor, though run a diagnostic protocol on it(attached)...if it's dark disregard codes 21, 22
