    TD5 Auto wont start

I have an TD5 auto and it occasionally wouldn't start. This has been happening mainly when its hot so I thought it might have been some kind of LR fail safe to protect something when it overheated.

When I say wouldn't start I mean that nothing would happen when I turned the key after I waited for the glow plugs to go off.

About the same time this started happening I also had the 1st gear LED light on the gear changer come on occasionally regardless of if I was in P R or D. Not sure if its still there will check tomorrow and let you know.

I had been playing around with terminals, leads and grounding hoping to find the the problem but tonight it gave up and refused to start. After getting the wife to pick me up I surfed around here and found an answer but it was hidden amongst other answers so I thought it deserved a bump so to speak.

I climbed under the car played with the leads on the starter motor and bang everything is working again.

Will post if any further developments and about the LED lights.

To the person who posted about the leads on the starter you have my sincerest thanks.

    Cheers

This same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Was the blade connector on the starter motor come loose. I gave it a bit of a crimp and cleaned up all the contacts and made sure everything was tight and no more issues.
