I wouldn't use detergent. There are radiator cooling system flush products available. Detergents could produce too much foam, difficult to clean out. Some have a high pH i.e. dish washer detergent.
google cooling system flush.

Replaced oil cooler after catastrophic failure.Wondering if anyone has experience with the cleanup and whether all hoses should be replaced. Radiator has been flushed but when running burst a hose . No damage done only a dirty driveway. Other hoses look OK but think because of oil damage may need replace the lot. Is detergent ok for a final flush and does the thermostat need to open for complete clean up. Thanks

Thanks for that , have been flushing with water then , radiator flush then water then radiator flush. Finally looks to be clear. Have checked hoses they seem good , but I think Ill replace all and then keep the better ones for spares. Did do some checking and the dishwasher powder dosnt soap up so maybe if stuck it might be an option.
