Hi Folks,
I use a piece of approx 7mm diameter soft woven rope with a loop in one end.
Thread second end through the loop then put the formed "noose" around the filter so that it wraps back on itself in the direction of 'undo'.
Wrap another turn if you like. When you pull the end of the rope tail it tightens up on the filter and unscrews it easily.
Fits all sized filters. If you have a particularly tight filter use your other hand to grab the filter over the wraps for extra torque.
My ride is a 2001 D2 TD5 and I don't seem to have any trouble with filter changes.
Does SWMBO's Mazda Kodak film container sized filter also.

I used to use a leather belt wrapped around the filter one full turn but now
use an adjustable steel strap filter remover.
That is because unless you have hands the size of a newborn you cant get 2 on it!!!;) then add in some fools brainwave to fit a 3 inch dump pipe:eek:-----(not on mine though) but I know of 1. and yes the pliers are the go.Quote:

I just don't do them up tight at all... firm is all that is needed, haven't had one fall off yet, even on the N14 Cummins :p

C'mon Will you can't say "bar none", well you can I s'pose, however I have been running Royal Purple in my Land Rovers now for the last I dunno 12 to 13 years, run it in high speed compressors with an integral gearbox doing 36,000 at my place of employment for in excess of ten years, lost competitors in the dust or debris as the case was.
Independent testing has proven RP to be a superior oil in many areas of lubrication properties, however much as I feel the need to say "bar none", you have beaten me to it. And I am sure that others will have oils that they have run for many years and feel the same way. Personally I wouldn't run a Penrite based on my own personal experience nothing more.
No Malice or anything intended just an opinion based on a little bit of fact.
