    Internal security device activation.

    Hi There,
More out of interest than a fault, the internal security sensors. Are they activated by motion or temperature differential?

The reason I ask, when I park my vehicle at work, if I leave the windows with maybe a 19 to 25 mm gap at the top the alarm activates. Not sure if this is caused by wind blowing into the vehicle causing sudden temperature change (car park is right next to the ocean), or by people walking past my vehicle going into work.

I fitted a set of weather shields to try and eliminate motion as a cause however despite getting considerably better on the odd occasion the alarm still activates. In theory could still be temperature dependant, caused by the occasional gust of wind. The window glass is never below the weather shield.

I can leave the vehicle in the carport at home both windows fully open over night and the alarm never activates. Yes I know the answer, however it gets hot here in WA so I would like to be able to leave the windows slightly open to allow air to circulate.

There is nothing hanging inside the vehicle that could move caused by a wind gust, I've checked for that.

Both windows fully closed the alarm doesn't activate.

    Cheers Marty.

    Hi
They're activated by pressure difference, if you want to lock the car but don't want the alarm to go off , then use the key to lock the door this still immobilises the engine, but doesn't activate passive side , but it does mean some unsavoury character can break in and take stuff

IMHO it is the wind moving the seat belts or maybe a fly buzzing around..
AFAIK the sensors are movement sensors.
All I know is that I used to lock my 92RRC with a key when camping or it sometimes woke the whole campsite at 3AM.

    Hi Nomad 9.
I'm not 100 % sure but I know that if I leave the windows down the alarm goes off from time to time.
I think this can be overcome by locking the door with the KEY. not the remote.
I'm not sure how you manage to leave the windows down at home and not have the alarm go off when the doors are locked in that situation.
perhaps someone more learned will tell you how it goes.
    Regards Nick.

    Thumbs up Thank you

    Hi There,
Thanks for the assistance, what you talk about makes a lot of sense. The key it is if I want to leave a window slightly open. Leaving only a small gap would mean I would get a relatively high velocity burst, whereas I suspect leaving the window fully open the change inside the vehicle would be slower due to the lower velocity change.

My wife got me one of those solar powered "wobbly things" for the dashboard for Xmas I had a faint suspicion that this might be the culprit, sticking the head still with Sellotape didn't make a difference so I eliminated that from the equation................ The things we do.

Ok so the key it is, thank you and I hope you all have a very Happy New Year.

    Cheers Marty.

A small animal works too, Dog, cat(even in a cat cage!) and a mouse had me stumped for ages, until the cat flushed it out 1 day I was doing some work :O The key is good to leave the aircon running while you dash into the shop or leave the dog in it
