Cheers. The dirt, grease and muck was so thick that I couldn't see/find a circlip! Had to scratch it all off with a screw driver. I removed the piece and gave it a good clean - there was a lot of thick muck on it, seemed like grease or lube that had been retaining the dust, dirt and sand to make a thick muck. The door operates much better now but it's not latching at the fully open position very well still - at the half open position it catches stronger.
