    Rear Door "Hold-Open" Strut D2

The flat, articulated metal strut that is meant to hold the rear door open has lost its little spring-leaf component, on my D2. This means that the door is fairly free to swing shut at will, such as in a breeze. With a spare wheel on the back of the door, this can be a bit dangerous.

Has anyone had this problem and fitted a twist-lock telescopic strut (does not need to be a gas strut) to hold the rear door securely open? If so, can they suggest where to find a suitable strut?

I recently saw one on a friend's Pajero, and I have to say that it seemed to work well.

    Cheers, AndrewMilne

I didn't realise that it had any spring to hold the door open. Mine is shot then too.

Just had a look and a brand new OEM unit is around $200.00 delivered from the UK - ALR9290

Had this problem recently myself and am looking forward to peoples fixes! I was sitting on the drawers in the back recently doing some work and the door came swinging closed on my shin...still got the bruise!

It has a circlip and washer on the pin and 2 10mm bolts hold it to the underside of the door
