Yes the tanks do crack with age. just check that the hose going in the botom is good and the clamp tight.
Cheers Scott
For the last 2 days at work the car park has been getting a small pink wet patch. My TD5 appears to have a coolant leak, at first i thought it was the overflow but the coolant appears to be coming out of the bottom front of the expansion tank, down the front of the struct tower, onto the radius arm then onto the concrete.
Do D2a expansion tanks crack under neither?

I replaced the cap on mine after "we" thought it was failing, still not sure if the old one was bad but no more stains!

Mine did that. Cracked a pipe underneath.
Ordered a new one. But didn't turn up in time. So glued it up with some hobby CA glue. Same as loctite 401. But heaps cheaper.
Survived a trip to beach. I think I still have it as a spare.
