Out of curiosity, where does it show this?. fwiw its common practice on electronic controlled diesels to use fuel temp reading amongst others to advance injection timing when cold to compensate for the lower cetane rating of cold diesel ( this is one of the reasons you are more likely to hear diesel knock with cold engine) . the fuel temp sensor isn't the only sensor that won't bring on mil lamp when disconnected
