Best spot on a TD5 for Temperature alarm sensor

I have a temperature monitor /engine saver thingy which is currently on the D1 V8 on the thermostat housing.

It has been great. We all know the dash temp gauges are rubbish.

It's coming off that now that I'm selling it and want to put it on the D2.

Where is the best spot for it and what should the temp be in that location?

    Pete

    Hi

On my 2000 Td5 Defender I mounted the sensor to a bolt I screwed into a stud hole at the rear passenger side of the motor above the exhaust manifold. My usually sits around the mid 80's to 90c though I have had it up to low 100's pulling my camper trailer up clyde mountain.

    coolant temp sensor housing bolt.
It's a blank bolt hole so no coolant leakage when removed.
I put some pipe insulation on mine.

I have mine fitted to one of the bolts holding the top hose stub near the OEM sensor.
It reads within 1c of the temp on Nanocom.

I checked out one that had been mounted at the rear of the head and it read 8c lower than Nanocom.
