    auto and torque converter

Son picked up a 2001 td5 auto, after laying his d1 on it's side.P O said auto was stuffed so sourced another good box.Original box seems to be driving ok,just the changes are a bit sudden and not smooth, other than that seems ok.PO has changed fluid and cleaned filter a couple of times but no difference.Any ideas? Also both boxes have a lemon yellow torque converter, is that normal,i thought they were either black or just metal colour.Could they be Ashcroft?Any help appreciated.

My TC is red for what it is worth.
I will leave other comments to the gurus who know about these things.
    Good luck. Nick

My factory td5 had a light yellow torque converter. It is red now after the rebuild. If it is shifting hard it might be the valve body needing attention. If it is just the valve body you could save yourself a lot of trouble by removing the sum and swapping the valve bodies over. It would save having to remove the auto, which is a big job, putting it back in, even bigger and no room for mistakes. Not to be intimidating but get it right and guess nothing.
