Unplug your MAF and drive around for a a day or two. See if it still happens.
You may also experience a little difficultly starting if your MAF is faulty.

Wow! This is more common than I expected.
I will get to the bottom of this!

Well,
I checked the trans fluid today, cold. Plenty in the box. Seemed quite good. Not dirty or smelly.
I then circulated the oil by selecting the gears and checked again.
Mmmm.... fluid was noticeably darker and I detected a feint burned smell, but nothing I would normally worry about. I have seen much worse.
Fluid is prob 6-7k old, mainly town and highway.
What to do next?

Unplug your MAF and go for a drive.
^^^^ what he says. By doing that the system defaults to a basic factory setting which will rule out or in the MAF as a prob.

Check your throttle position sensor voltages!

I will once I get my nanocom repaired. Also I am currently not in Bris so things are going slow diagnosis wise.
I have previously replaced the MAF, maybe 4 yrs ago, with a genuine so I hope that's not it! Similarly, one of my fears is that the fault lays in a wiring loom somewhere. :(;)

Update:
Hopefully nanocom will arrive back from blackbox in the next few days.
I was driving the Mt Mee scenic route over Easter and sure enough, by the top of the drive there was the unmistakable smell of singed trans fluid.:(
Funny thing tho, apart from revving a little higher as it holds back the changes (and the aforementioned lag), the shifts are pretty smooth.
I'll dig a little deeper when nano arrives home, but at this stage, I don't have the coin for a box rebuild or replacement, so maybe a straight swap from a donor car - searching for friends with the means....:p
Cheers
