    Auto oil cooler

I need to remove my leaking auto oil cooler and I was wondering if anyone on the forum could tell me the easiest way to remove and replace my cooler.
I need to know if I need to remove the rad. or if the cooler in in front of the A/C condenser and if the grill has to come out?
    Cheers Nick.

you will need to remove the top rad shroud ,viscous fan , lower rad shroud ,then remove lower headlight trims , grille, horns, foam behind the horns then undo all the bolts holding the radiator in then move the rad in and you should be able to undo the cooler and get it out without disconnecting the rad
ps disconnect the auto lines first and clamp them to avoid losing trans fluid , and if its a td5 disconnect the intercooler hoses as the intercooler will have to come out as well
have a good one :D ken :wasntme:

    cooler

I followed Outback's advice to the letter and got the old cooler out of my TD5.
    What could possibly go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My auto transmission cooler has six rows of core. The new second hand wreckers special has three. Blast!
I rang just before closing time and was told that I had ordered an engine oil cooler.
My understanding is that the engine oil cooler is just below the exhaust manifold , near the turbo.
Parts man insisted that the TD5 has two coolers between the condenser and the rad. Mine has only one six core job.
I know what I ordered but arguing is not going to get the car back on the road any sooner.
Please advise me as to how many coolers It should have (bearing in mind there are no "spare" oil pipes hanging about in the engine bay.)

My bull dust detector is in the top of the red zone!

    V8

you are correct about the TD5 engine oil cooler being mounted on the engine block, I think the V8's have a separate cooler above the trans cooler. sounds like you will have to swap it for the correct one.

    Bulldust

So, you've got a TD5 and you need a transmission oil cooler.
Can you be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you didn't ask for a engine oil cooler for a V8?
