Hi all , got a mate with a d2 that has no centre difflock ..there's a a witch/ solinoid on the trans that I beleave switches from economy to power ( other things as well I asume) it's sending his car into limp mode .... He has a spare but cannot get the plugs on it undone.... Any secrets to that?

Most likely culprit will be the xyz switch but the lights can also be brought on by a flat battery or oil in the red ecu plug is the display in the dash showing all the gearshift positions as you move the selector if not the xyz is the likely cause i would be checking for fault codes with a nanocom or similar before you replace any component's

Ok , I know he's got an oily harness so I'll pass that on .. There is an issue whit the switch/solinoid though , so if anyone knows of a tip to get the plugs apart , apparently it's very tight, cheers outback...he did have a bit of weird light activity ..

When I had limp mode probs it was caused by the wiring harness on top of the gear box rubbing through and shorting out.
