Removing bonnet switch leave open circuit

I have been concerned for some time that when I have the bonnet open to charge the battery it would keep the BCU active.

My active immobilisation is inactive and the alarm is also inactive.with no red flashing light etc and no horn sound at all.

So today I removed the bonnet switch. When I checked I found the switch open circuit when closed ie the bonnet closed and and switch closed/pressed down and the switch is contacted when up ie the bonnet is up.

So I just covered the terminal with tape without bridging the contacts so that the car would consider the bonnet down.

Does Sierrafery or any one else know if there are any hidden traps with doing this?
    Regards Philip A

Should be no issues with doing that/ As you say it just makes the BCU /and the alarm system think the bonnet is closed, which to its thinking is ok, ie. No one has opened the bonnet to do a jump start Given that your alarm is inactive any way I can see no problems.
    Cheers Scott

My Disco is generally always parked in the shed with the bonnet up, usually because im halfway through a "project" ive never had any dramas with flat batteries, or imobilisation/alarms, and its very seldom driven, it will sit for a week or more at times without being driven.
