    Oil light flickering

So after a day of driving around various tracks in toolangi, I was on my way home and I noticed every time I accelerated the little oil can light would come on then turn off when I wasn't accelerating and with a bit of flickering in between.

Eventually it would stay illuminated and occasionally would flicker off and the back on.

When I got home I checked my oil level and it was fine, the car wasn't making and weird noises so I'm wondering if this could be a faulty oil pressure or oil level switch, it's worrying though. I'm no mechanic but I'm pretty sure engines need oil

Someone help please I need to drive this car to work tomorrow!

The wire to the oil pressure switch has probably fallen off and is touching the engine block. Does the light come on with ignition on and the engine not running? If not, find the wire and plug it back on the switch.

If it's a TD5 check where the wiring from the switch(behind the turbo) runs behind the head over the top of the bell housing.
The conduit gets brittle and breaks away allowing the wire to rub through.
This then earths the wire bring on the light.
    Cheers, Kyle

Check your oil pump bolt now.
Flickering might be the last part of the drive flat engaging and slipping.

Totally agree - I replaced mine for $6 and although I had no problem with it the bolt that was in there had no locking compound.

It could be a broken wire but I would be fitting a new bolt anyway just in case. I definitely wouldn't be driving anywhere until it has been sorted.

While you are checking the bolt do not overlook the bung which holds the pressure relief valve in. Often they back out because of no locktite. Once it falls out then its no pressure.
If it is loose then you will need a hydraulic thread locker.
It is just to the rear of the oil pump sprocket.
