fuel tank sender on disco2 td5

    Hey guys

I bought a new sender after the old one would send the low fuel light when I still had 20 litres left or so I thought, the new sender works well but when the light came on I filled the car and could only get about 77 litres in, well assuming the capacity of the tank is 95 litres I same result as the old one, so I kept driving assuming approx 10 litres per hundred would give me atleast 150klm comfortably, 14 k later I run out of fuel, put 5 liters from jerry can and filled car up 78litres, which gives me a total of 83 litres, what happened to the 90 odd where supposed to have, the sender i thought would give warning about 10 liters left, can they be adjusted

    cheers
    ken

Fuel sender is part of the fuel pump ...

... and you replaced just the sender ? .... Or you put in a complete new fuel pump ?

I did a test locally and managed 200km after fuel light on standard tank. Didn't actually run out, but got fed up of the stress of fuel light bingo.
I posted up that when i changed my tank i had run out in the car port, put 5 litres in and when drained got 10 litres out. Can't understand the standard tank.
