    Angry Spare wheel

G'day all, my wheel nut cover remover for my D2 is stripped so it's useless. Is there another way of removing them because I've tried pliers and tried levering them off with a screw driver but nothing worked. I can't believe l would be stuck without this stupid cheaply made plastic cover remover or am l the stupid one. Please help me.
    Cheers Nippa.

Try a 27mm socket over the cover and remove the whole nut. It's what I do. I don't even have a remover.

Thanks Railey but the problem is they just move freely when you turn them. Their not a tight fit.

Hey Rialey your right, Just went out and checked again and sure enough the nuts were undoing and not spinning freely after all. The thing is l can use the wheel brace as normal to remove the nuts. Don't need socket. If you new me better you would not be surprised by this. I have to learn to check things better.
    Cheers mate and thanks. Nippa.

Looks like you have had a win which is good.
The nut cover remover is for the covers on the locking nuts only.
These have dimple in the cover to identify them(1 on each road wheel).
The rest of the nuts just remove using a wheel brace/socket.
Those of us who head bush have been known to discard the locking nuts and fitt standard nuts instead.
    Cheers, Kyle

If I remember right there is three different types of nuts on the D2:
There is the normal nuts which are marked by a dimple either internally or externally.
The spare wheel nuts (difference to the above is the thread length) marked also by a dimple but in the opposite direction.
The lock nuts which have the cover on them.

As twr7cx said, there are 3 types, and only the locking nuts have the removable cover. It states in the manual NOT to use the spare wheel nuts for the road wheels. Alien is correct , ditch the locking nuts, just keep it on the spare. They will cause you grief when you least want. Never heard of any disco getting wheels nicked

In any case, a new tool to remove the locking-nut covers only costs about $10.

Am I the only one who's left the locking nut on the nut of a road wheel and gone driving?

Got to work and noticed it...thank god it was still on there, that would have been a deadly missile...

AH, but why throw away $10 every time you use it.
    Cheers, Mario
