By your logic then all home fridges would also be also laying on the floor. The chill is kept by the contents not the air and this has more content. As to why for this was simple, a Discovery has height not acreage behind the seats, this for me utilizes the height of the disco better with a footprint of 45*46cm's on the floor. The top space is not entirely lost as will storing the quad air snake for tyre inflation and deflation there.

I have a rear view camera mounted below the rear brake light (in the wiped area) so the fridge is not in the way of rear vision either.

The oven is coming, you are right they are great and I am designing the left side of the setup to include one. The second drawer in the pics has to be secured and will probably go up one more layer and put it there, or hang it down of the roof or above the rear air conditioning unit or put on the cross bars facing to the door or........

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Where I was coming from was simply that I saw a “non-ruggedised” domestic appliance employed in a situation that it was not designed for and immediately thought - what “a curious choice”. To be honest It did occur to me that the attraction has gotta be the capacity. NB: There is a positive benefit to keeping the cold air in[emoji6]

Ssssh! don't tell ARB or they will nick your idea, slap on some rugged looking corner protectors and their badge then double the price.....[tonguewink]

First the non opening door, well as many have struggled with this issue was expecting the worst but in the end it was just the connector to the mechanism that had come adrift, the tab has gone! Plugged back on and door opens as it should.

Fitted the air compressor and attached the lock down straps today, the air compressor is mounted to a sheet plate bolted by the removed seat studs and bolt holes with a top lip over the plastic moulding.

Air line from the compressor is push fitting and this goes to the 4 way manifold in the above picture.

From there it was onto the winch which was not working and all this was found to be was the earth wire from the solenoid box has somehow lost connection, new wire to the battery and winch now operating'.

The SLS solenoid on the Left side was not operating so have now tapped the spare solenoid for 1/4" BSP and will be putting air fittings on them all. OF course left the Schrader at home but have made a hole behind the tail light for them and the now relocated filter (extended this) in the cabin, so an easy job Wednesday to take the malfunctioning solenoid box, replace it and take off the fittings from the compressor and attach them as well as cutting them for the T for the Schrader lines.

Amazing how 4 or so hours disappear.

It is actually a caravan fridge 12/24/240 V and the ruggedized nature of the 4WD fridges is due to them being moved about and shunted in and out, mine is staying put!

You have inadvertently given me a good idea re the loss of cold air and minimizing the loss, well get back to this later...

Mines been sitting on the kitchen table for months waiting to get done when I get happening with the V8 torque converter and ashcroft kit.

So how is it driving around, any difference?

Kaiiju came over and did these for me. A bout 20 mins for the FPR and about 10 mins for the starter motor. It is so nice to not have diesel dripping every where.

Fitted the push solenoid block and chased the Schrader lines back along the SLS intake to the rear compartment. Had a severe leak in the centre air line which took a whole lot of time to get right. Left Solenoid is still not letting out air. it pumps alright but wont release... This was the issue to fit a replacement solenoid in the first place and it has left me non the wiser - learned folks any ideas?????

Schrader lines are in the cabin - the air filter has a motor cycle inlet filter stuffed in it

Then some work on the Air Compressor for the tyres, long extensions for the inlets and an adaptor for the push fitting fitted to the JFlex inflator (this had the 240V taken out as the board is only 12V) to take air directly from the compressor. All up only $22 from the Air place in Coburg, ARB charge around $70 for ONE extension.

Then the thought bubble I had last night regarding ONEBOB's comment about losing cold air when opening the fridge, the thought was to contain the air in the fridge!

The usefulness of them is that they will keep the food from bouncing around and as the air is contained within, so is the coolness and minimise the loss of cold air falling out, well that's the idea.


Oh and prompted by you good selves looked up Ovens and Kings were on special for $198, fitted it behind the rear passenger seat facing forward. Do have drop the seat back but going away tomorrow morning and it was expedient and no extra wiring required.

2. Left & Right C Pillar finishing trims
3. Cap for headlight where low beam globes goes in

All in good condition & great price

Lots of driving in tunnels and quiet roads today and loving the singing 4.6. Third gear is always nuts....from walking pace to highway speeds in third is a thing of beauty...pulls like a train from a speed that most small motors are still in 1st [emoji1]. Cheers
