So what does it do? Shorten the throw?
Does it therefore make the shift heavier?

Essentially they just lift the lever higher so shortening the throw but yes increasing the force required, not that I really noticed a big change.
The D2 kit just does this with an approx 7-8mm spacer and the blue alloy bias plate which allows the shifter to be retained in that position. The Defender kit replaces the shifter which the gearstick attaches to with a taller model and a spacer of nearly an inch.
Will report on the effectiveness once the master and slave cylinders arrive and changed out.....
The Defender one, however, I rate highly.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8adeab2fc4.jpg
We were up at Seal Rocks for a few days; towed the camper trailer up behind the D2 & stayed in the caravan park with my wife and 2 kids - the other ones doing her HSC.
Great winter weather, nice waves at No.1 beach for the long boards and mini mals, big swell on the East facing beaches, making for pretty spectacular viewing from the rocky headland over Treachery, throw in Sea Eagles, Brahminy and Whistling Kites, many dolphins and even a seal.
Drove round to Yagan, some fair bog holes on the track in but beach access permanently closed btl so I trundled back around to Lighthouse beach for a squiz.
There was a solid 2ft drop at the end of the access track where high tide left it’s mark; made for a ‘3 tries’ exit - thought I was going to have to drop tire pressures and then ask the yota driver next door for compressor time to air up! (My on board compressor went down with my 110 ‘ship’ and my old portable one burnt out the first morning up there [emoji2357] and there’s no servo’s at Seals)
Beach was mostly pretty firm due to v recent rain and big swells.
Anyways, we had some great family and friends time in an amazing location.

Finally did the ball joints on drivers side as one was fubar and seized, seems its what was causing my steering sticky spot.
Took 2.5 hour to do them so not too shabby.
Also new rubber doughnut in the rear as a bit of preventative maintenance.
And I hate 'em even more after the other day.....

When I got back to the car after getting a few things that's what I saw....
Replacing the handle cover turned into a day long nightmare today. It looked easy. Undo two nuts and a bolt and off it comes. No probs....... Yeah right.[bighmmm]
The nut in behind the door lock mechanism is very nearly impossible to get to unless you take the lock mechanism out. Problem. The previous owner had managed to strip the heads of two of the bolts holding it in so getting it out wasn't an option. That just made a half hour exercise into a three hour extravaganza with much swearing, cursing and gnashing of teeth.
I s'pose I can take solace in the fact that a well known auction site had a cover listed for a reasonable price and it was delivered quickly.
It caught fire![bigsad]:firedevil:
Well, almost. I have been doing some things, replacing that itty bitty hose from the oil cooler, fixing an oil leak - turned out to be the oil filter had been overtightened, not by me - etc. I had the turbo off and have yet to refit its heat shield. My car had a second battery system when I got it, I never fitted a battery to the ARB shelf, too close to the turbo for mine.
Anyway, I had disturbed the wiring to it, and thought to myself, "self, don't forget to secure that". It got dark and I packed up and guess what.... Driving this morning, dirt road, bumpy. Car stops... Hmm.. nasty smell.... then SMOKE from under bonnet.... run around to pull the bonnet release, run back to open said bonnet... first thing I see is the two top studs holding the turbo on glowing so brightly I could still see them ten minutes later on my retina. Realised that the main cable for the second battery had fallen down, lodge itself on the bolt for the missing heat shield, melted through the insulation and was causing a dead, high current, short circuit..... Luckily I have a quick undo -ve battery terminal, which I promptly burned my fingers on. Interesting times... Speaking of fingers, I had mine crossed, but the car started straight up.
Oh, and later I ran over my winch controller. And found out that the sore foot is probably a diabetic ulcer... Diabetes?? Possibly.. type 2... oh well. I fixed the controller.
The Loctite 243 arrived. The diff replacement etc starts on Sunday.
Sagging front springs and shocks were removed last night after placing an online order for new ones..... measured 460mm from centre to wheel arch, and barely 30mm at bumpstop. Just sticking to standard height springs as I want at least one LR that fits in underground car parking.
The new Dobinsons should be here by next weekend to fit.
