Had to change out the bulb for the ODO/Trip meter display.
Didn't have a compatible LED type, so had to install a std globe for that spot.
Whilst in there, I decided to change the gauges globes to LEDs, and being a nice day planned to also fit the rheostat fitting plus wiring to have dimmable lights.
Got lazy after the LEDs were fitted, so packed it all up for the day.
Actually, had a late start 'coz I couldn't find the globes I had put away for the task. Took me most of the day to find them,, and nowhere near where I thought they would be.
Did more 'shed sorting', than 'dimmer fitting', then a bit of a clean up ... and suddenly it was late afternoon!
Anyhow, with LEDs(and now dark), they aren't as bright as I expected. Brighter than incandescent globes, but not like in my D1, which are too bright for really dark roads.
But I'll end up pulling all apart again very soon, to do the dimmer install, but more importantly fibreglass the tabs for the slidey hold down points near the front of the cowl. It rattles too much on some of these back roads.
It rained. Time to clean out the sunroof drains. Again. Dry the carpet. Again. Probably dry the fusebox. Again. And do what I tell myself to do every time and figure out how to stop this from happening. Again.
whilst the fuse box is out it would be a good to coat it with something like this

Not quite today but have been working thru the list of things to do on my D2a
1. Rebuilt transfer case
2. Oil leaks
3. Waste gate
4. New Rubber for tailgate handle housing
5. Refitting switch blanks on instrument binaccle where previous owner had fitted Redarc Brake Controller
6. LRA tune
7. Ordered some new foglights for the bullbar from PowerfulUK
Exhaust manifold is leaking so still to work on that - bit the bullet & bought an Allisport Ceramic Coated manifold after having to fix OEM Manifold 2 times on a previous D2.
Has been a labour of love & $ over the last year but hopefully getting to toward a well sorted car.
Bought some D2a fog lights from PowerfulUK a month ago.
Fitted them today - easy job.
Look better, much improved light
They will work with either standard bar or ARB bar as the ARB has an adapter plate to fit the standards lights.
PowerfulUK were great - clear information they would fit, easy purchase & good freight.
Perhaps could have got them cheaper on Ebay, but given PowerfulUK are a Landrover Specialist went with them.
:ttiwwp:
Are they the same, or an improvement on the Land Rover ones?
Can I be cheeky and ask how much?
I replaced mine with generic, Yank jobs with DRTs, it was a bit of a gin around fabricating bits to make them work, in fact I think the fitting lasted longer than the lens. [bigsad]
